Artist Biography

Michele Spry is a Fused Glass Artist born, raised, and presently residing in the small, country community of Midway, Missouri. Located halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis, Michele’s love and passion for her community runs deep. A graduate of Hickman High School [Columbia, MO], Michele has always been a visual and tactile learner thriving in environments where she can actively engage with materials. Her love of learning, high energy, and innate entrepreneurial spirit keeps Michele from ever letting grass grow under her feet!

A love for the arts and crafts was something Michele enjoyed from a young age. She participated in a few cake decorating classes in 4-H and took various art courses including ceramics, acrylic, and watercolor painting, but never felt fulfilled. She’s worked to pinpoint the medium she has a true connection with. Her introduction to glass began through a class she took in 2018. She instantly fell in love with the colors, its wide variety of options, and the overall natural beauty created by the kiln’s fire. Michele transitioned her newfound interest into a professional pursuit and opened her glass business in 2019. She became involved with Buy Missouri in 2019, The Best of Missouri Hands in 2020 and joined the Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance in 2023. Michele’s current interest is in creating textured and touchable glass art in addition to creating succulents and seascapes.

Michele’s journey into fused glass introduced her to a passionate community of local artists who continue to provide pivotal support and encouragement as she builds upon her skills. She is humbled and inspired by the outpouring friendship, encouragement, and overall excitement the community offers.

When not in the studio, Michele and her high school sweetheart-turned-husband, Brandon, own and run five small businesses. Never idle, Michele fills her free time cruising around in their classic cars, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and working alongside children and veterans. She serves as a Partner in Education with Midway Heights Elementary School, volunteers with the Central Missouri Honor Flight a part of the Virtual Reality product, Honor Everywhere, and you can regularly catch her having lunch with veterans.
